Money and Anxiety: Taking Control After Lockdown
We are all experiencing a particularly turbulent time at the moment. Covid-19 has caused many people a lot of stress and anxiety, especially when it comes to money.
So what are Emma Roache’s top tips for taking back control as we emerge from lockdown?
- 1. Don’t compare yourself to others. Everyone reacts to things differently and have their own worries and concerns. What is a huge deal to one person might seem insignificant to another. Just focus on yourself and what is important to you. Whether that means applying for a new job after being freelance to ensure a steady income or moving back in with your parents to avoid the strain of rent payments.
- 2. Don’t get hung up on the news and social media.
- If you spend a lot of time on social media, it’s likely that you will start judging your lifestyle to that of the people you follow. The problem is, you’re not likely to be seeing the whole story. So again, its not helpful to compare yourself to others! You never know, they could be funding their lavish lifestyle on credit cards which we all know could cause your personal finances to sink in the middle.
- 3. Fake it till you make it.
- Acting with confidence can be a really good way to actually build your confidence. If there is something you have been putting off, or are worried about doing (maybe facing building debts) acting with confidence will hopefully help you take back control.
